Bolton and Patrushev aired “steps” for removing Iran from Syria
US National Security Adviser John Bolton, reporting on his first meeting with his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev in Geneva Thursday, said they had discussed a “series of steps” that would lead to removing Iran’s military presence in Syria. Patrushev said they had discussed Syria, Ukraine, cybersecurity, and nuclear issues. Bolton warned Moscow against election meddling in 2018. Patrushev said no accusations were brought against Moscow. He had invited US officials for a new round of talks but no agreement was reached on a timeline for another meeting with Bolton.
