British MI6 chief briefs visiting US presidential contestant Romney

In an extreme rare briefing for foreign politicians not in power, Sir John Sawers, head of the British spy agency, was closeted with visiting Mitt Romney Thursday for a discussion on Syria, Iran, Tunisia, Libya, Pakistan and Afghanistan. It was taken as a gesture by Prime Minister David Cameron to win his support for a more interventionist military role in the Syrian crisis than the Obama administration has taken. Romney earlier raised British backs by remarking that the UK is not ready to stage the Olympic Games and had to backtrack.
