British PM May: Official definition of anti-Semitism as tool to fight hate
British premier Theresa May will say in a speech: "It is unacceptable that there is anti-Semitism in this country. It is even worse that incidents are reportedly on the rise.” She will announce that all UK institutions will adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition that calls anti-Semitism "a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews," and “Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities." The IHRA definition has been adopted in 31 countries and is used by the British police. May will say that having one official definition of anti-Semitism will mean those guilty of hatred of Jews will be "called out on it.”
