British PM Office on Syria: “Strategic need to act quickly”

Downing St. said Tuesday that the international community must respond to Syria’s chemical attack and “may have the strategic need to act quickly.” Prime Minister David Cameron has recalled parliament Thursday to debate and vote on military action in Syria, while UK armed forces draw up contingency plans. Cameron's office said Tuesday that the UK is considering a "proportionate" response that would deter Syrian President Bashar Assad from using chemical weapons in the future. Cyprus has denied that Britain may use its big air base on the island to strike Syria.
