British police foil terrorist attack, detain four suspects in London
The four Muslim suspects were picked up in different parts of London – two after a car chase in Whitechapel, East London, Sunday night, the Telegraph reports. The officers fired large shotgun ammunition (Hatton) designed to burst car tires and then rammed the escape vehicle to bring it to a halt with a helicopter overhead. A third man was detained on a street in west London and a fourth at a flat south east of the city. The police were in race for time to prevent the four suspects gaining access to weapons and staging an Islamist terror attack. They had been under the eye of counter-terrorism police and MI5 for some time.
