Canada ends bombardment of ISIS in Syria and Iraq
Incoming Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose Liberal party swept to victory in this week’s general election, says he will end his country’s bombing campaign against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. Canadian participation was approved by his predecessor the Conservative party leader Stephen Harper. The announcement followed a telephone call with US President Barack Obama in which Trudeau promised to remain a strong member of the coalition against ISIS. He also committed to take in 25,000 Syrian refugees.
