Catalan authorities: 465 injured in clashes with police over referendum

Catalan pro-independence leaders accused the Spanish police of “unjustifiable violence” against voters trying to reach polling booths for the province’s independence referendum. The Catalan authorities reported 465 people were treated for injuries due to clashes with police firing rubber bullets and attempting to stop the vote. Most sustained light injures. The Spanish government which declared the referendum illegal urged the Catalans to “end the “farce.”
