Chief Military Appeals Justice seeks compromise in Hebron soldier’s case

The President of the Military Court of Appeals Zvi Segal called on the two sides in the case against Elor Azaria, the soldier accused of killing an injured terrorist in Hebron, to reach a compromise on the sentence. The case was reopened Sunday. The Military Prosecutor Lt. Col. (res.) Nadav Weissman rejected this course and asked the court to rule on sentence without delay. However, Defense Counsel Yoram Sheftel accepted and proposed a two-week process of arbitration to settle the matter. The judge deferred the court’s decision for a week, during which he referred the case back to the military prosecutor for review.
