China and the US agree to share intel on terror

China and the United States will improve cooperation on fighting militancy, including intelligence exchanges, and work together to bring peace to Afghanistan, China's foreign ministry said after a leaders' summit in Washington. Beijing claims it faces a serious threat from Islamist violence in its far western region of Xinjiang, However, exiles and rights groups deny the existence of cohesive militant group fighting the government, and attribute the unrest in Xinjiang to persecution and controls over the culture and religion of the Uighur people who live in Xinjiang.
