China is building its first military training camp in Afghanistan
Western sources report that China is building a training facility in Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor, a narrow area that separates Tajikistan from Pakistan, to accommodate a battalion of roughly 500 fighters. It is described as part of Beijing’s efforts “to improve counterterrorism capabilities in the war-torn country.” Until now, only the US and NATO members with troops deployed in Afghanistan have engaged in training local fighters.
