China to raise tariffs on US imports in escalating trade war
China announced on Monday plans to raise tariffs by 5pc to 25pc on imports from the US, including frozen vegetables and liquefied natural gas, striking back after US President Donald Trump last week raised tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports. The moves fuel fears that the escalating trade war between the world’s two economic giants could derail the global economy.
