Clinton and Trump trade barbs over Orlando attack
Donald Trump said on Monday that the massacre in Orlando justified his call for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration. He warned that if Hillary Clinton were elected president, thousands of potential Islamic terrorists would flood into the country with the intention of slaughtering innocent Americans. “I refuse to be politically correct.”
Clinton, meanwhile, warned that Mr. Trump’s anti-Muslim stances were damaging efforts to defeat terrorism and vowed to step up air strikes against the Islamic State. Trump, pledging to defeat ISIS, expanded his migration ban to regions with a history of terrorism against the United States.
He said he wanted to work with American Muslims to fight terrorism, but they must “turn in the people whom they know are bad.”
