Confirmation hearing for Trump’s CIA director nominee begins
Rep. Michael Pompeo, President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for director of the CIA, testified at his Senate confirmation hearing on Thursday. In response to questions from members of the committee, he said that he would support the use of torture including waterboarding as part of what he called legitimate interrogation measures, conduct a tough policy toward Russia, and not oppose the nuclear agreement with Iran. He called the Russian cyberattacks against the US "an aggressive action taken by senior leadership inside of Russia." The 53-year-old Pompeo, a lawyer by training and former US military officer, has served as a congressman from Kansas since 2010.
