Beijing reported on Monday that the number of confirmed victims of coronavirus has risen to 17,205 with 361 dead, all but one fatality in China. Outside China there are more than 150 confirmed cases and one fatality in the Philippines. Several countries have denied entry to foreign visitors who were recently been to China, grounded flights to the mainland and some are evacuating citizens. El Al, like several foreign carriers. has halted flights to China and Israel’s Health Minister Yaakov Litzman last Thursday prohibited incoming flights from China from landing. Israelis returning from China were ordered to stay home for two weeks until the risk of infection passes. The disease and measures for preventing its spread are having major economic ramifications in China and the many countries in trade and other relations with Beijing.
