Conflicting reports cloud the Malaysian flight’s discovery
Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak's announcement Thursday that the part, known as a flaperon, did indeed come from the doomed Malaysian Airlines Flight 370 was challenged by authorities in France, the US and Australia, who stopped short of full confirmation. In Paris, Deputy Prosecutor Serge Mackowiak declined to confirm that the debris washed up on Reunion Island belonged to Flight 370, although he said there were strong indications that it did.
