Conflicting reports on Arrow 3 interception test
Israeli defense sources in Tel Aviv rate the Arrow 3 battery’s interception test from the Palmahim air base Tuesday a success, whereas foreign sources report that it was cancelled after the battery failed to lock onto a target missile fired over the Mediterranean.
The Arrow (Hetz) is part of Israel’s multi-tiered missile shield designed to withstand missile and rocket attacks by Iran, Syria, the Lebanese Hizballah and Hamas in Gaza. Arrow 3, developed jointly by Israel and the US, is designed to lock onto and “kill” incoming missiles in flight above the earth’s atmosphere.
