Coronavirus infection at schools heads south
More than 7,500 pupils and teachers were in quarantine on Wednesday after a 2,500 jump in coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours. Another 7 schools were closed down raising the figure to 43 across the country. Infection has spread strongly to the southern region. The Beersheba Soroka hospital reopened its coronavirus ward on Wednesday for six new patients, half of them children. Quarantine orders went out to all pupils and teaching staff at the city’s big Makif Gimmel School. A religious girls high school in Ashkelon was closed after a student tested positive for coronavirus. All the children of the Bedouin Al Yakut kindergarten were sent into isolation after the discovery of a case there.
