Coronavirus infection shoots past 3,000. New restrictions ahead
As new infections soared to 3,074, the coronavirus cabinet meeting on Thursday will have to approve further restrictions, especially shutdowns in “red” regions. Health experts want restraints tightened in the whole country to contain the spread, since 1,700 of the new cases were registered in non-red areas. They also warn against panic since the number of serious ill in hospitals remains steady at 400 plus. However, the coronavirus director Prof. Ronni Gamzu insists on a week’s grace for the figures to come down, or else there will be no way to avoid severe restraints.
The updated covid-19 infection figure for Thursday is 122,539 with 23, 698 active cases and 418 in serious condition. The death toll has risen to 969.
