Cruz tops Trump, Clinton in hairline victory over Sanders in Iowa
In the first US presidential caucuses Monday, Senator Ted Cruz scored 27.3 pc to real estate mogul Donald Trump’s 24.3 percent and Senator Marco Rubio’s close third at 23.1 percent – on the Republican side.
In the Democratic race, Senator Bernie Sanders claimed a “virtual tie” with Hillary Clinton. She claimed victory with 49.9 percent – albeit by a hair – against his 49.6 percent. Sanders, as he headed for the next test in New Hampshire, called for on the Democratic Party to release a raw vote count before declaring the winner.
