Deadly raid by French counterterror forces ends, three terrorists killed
Three terrorists were killed in a raid by French security forces on an apartment in the Parisian suburb of Saint Denis on Wednesday and have still to be identified. There were heavy exchanges of gunfire between the counterterror forces, who were hunting for those who planned Friday's attacks in the capital, and the terrorists holed up in the apartment. Numerous explosions were heard during the raid that began before dawn and turned into a seven-hour standoff. The three killed included a female suicide bomber who blew herself up. Seven suspects were arrested and taken in for questioning. Five policemen were wounded, and a bomb-sniffing police dog was killed when the suicide bomber detonated her explosive belt.
