DEBKA Exclusive: Saudi intel chief visited Ramallah, Jerusalem this week
The director of Saudi Arabia's intelligence service, Khalid Bin Ali Al Humaidan, visited Ramallah and Jerusalem on Tuesday and Wednesday, DEBKAfile reports exclusively. There was no confirmation by any Palestinian or Israeli source.
If the visit indeed took place, the information was leaked in order to torpedo the Saudi initiative. It appears that the intelligence chief was sent to clarify several security-related matters regarding the convening of a regional peace conference, after US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu discussed the possibility of such a conference during their meeting in Washington on February 15.
Khalid Bin Ali Al Humaidan, a career soldier, is the first-ever Saudi intelligence chief who is a commoner. Previous intelligence chiefs include Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, Prince Turki Bin Faisal and Prince Muqrin.
