Defense Minister Ya’alon slams Hebron soldier’s defenders as “gang leaders”
Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon in an over-the-top outburst of fury Tuesday denounced as "gang leaders" the defendants of the Hebron soldier’s actions in shooting dead an injured terrorist. The soldier’s case generated broad popular sympathy and the support of several cabinet ministers, after Ya’alon, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkot and the prime minister denounced his actions as unjustified and contrary to military orders and the IDF’s code of ethics. The charge of murder initially brought by the IDF against the soldier was later reduced to manslaughter.
