Defense sources in Jakarta: terror attack over, 6 dead
Defense sources in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta announced Thursday afternoon that the coordinated terrorist attack in the diplomatic district of the city was over. The assault was carried out simultaneously by about 10 ISIS fighters with grenades, explosives and automatic weapons against a number of targets, mostly Western-related ones. Six people were killed, including one Dutch citizen and one Singaporean. Armored vehicles of the Indonesian police were seen patrolling Jakarta's main roads in the aftermath of the attack. Indonesia's neighbors Singapore and Malaysia declared a state of alert in their main cities and boosted security around sensitive facilities, especially foreign diplomatic missions.
