Despite gaps, Kerry plans nuclear deal signing ceremony Sunday
Despite differences remaining in the way of a Six-Power nuclear accord with Iran, US Secretary of State John Kerry is preparing to stage a grand signing ceremony Sunday, March 29, at the Palace of Nations in Geneva. DEBKAfile: Still to be determined whether all six powers will sign, or Kerry and the Iranian Mohammed Javad Zarif will deliver announcements as a bridge to the next stage of negotiations up until the next deadline in June. Obama and Kerry insist on holding a signing ceremony although major issues remain unresolved with Iran – such as the future of nuclear research, the development of high-speed centrifuges, the disposition of Iran’s enriched uranium stocks – which are enough for three nuclear bombs, and the tempo of sanctions relief.
