Despite sanctions, UK reopens North Sea gas field co-owned with Iran

The big Rhum North Sea gas field, co-owned by BP and Iran, which was shut in 2010 by EU sanctions on Iranian firms, was allowed Tuesday by the British government to resume production.  The energy ministry in London claimed that continued closure would cause  damage to the environment.
