Drone attack by Yemeni Houthis on major Saudi oil facility and oilfield

Explosions and a huge fire erupted after a drone attack on the world’s largest oil processing facility at Abqaiq and the Khuras oil field in Saudi Arabia overnight Friday. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels later took responsibility. The Saudi Interior Ministry said the state company Aramco had brought the fires under control without further comment. Abqaiq, 60 km southwest of Dhahran in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, contains the world’s largest oil processing plant. Khurais, 190 km further southwest, holds the country’s second largest oilfield.
