Egypt captures large weapons ship in Aqaba Gulf

 

The 45-ton foreign vessel was captured by the Egyptian Navy near Ras Mohamed at the entrance to the the Gulf of Aqaba just as it was about to transship its cargo to smaller boats. The cargo consisted of a variety of weapons, such as land mines, automatic rifles and hand grenades. The Egyptian statement did not identify the ship or its flag, but reported that the crew, including some Americans and British nationals, were being interrogated to discover the party behind the clandestine arms shipment.
