Egypt claims ISIS ops chief in Sinai killed in air strike
Egyptian army sources report that the Ansar Beit al-Maqdis operations chief in Sinai, Rashad Abu al-Qassam, was killed in an air strike. This is not confirmed by other sources. DEBKAfile: Egyptian bulletins have reverted to the use of this group’s original name, although it pledged loyalty to the Islamic State as the “Sinai Province of the Islamic Caliphate.” A new Egyptian law prohibits references to Al Qaeda in relation to security operations against Islamist terror.
