Egypt extends Sinai emergency by three months

As the Islamic State’s Sinai affiliate continued to attack Egyptian positions in northern Sinai, Cairo announced a three-month extension of the state of emergency declared in Oct. 2014. Heavily reinforced Egyptian contingents backed by F-16 warplanes and Apache assault helicopters have not managed to put a stop to aggressive ISIS operations.
