Egypt, Saudis are cautiously encouraging on Trump peace plan

“Egypt calls on the two relevant parties to undertake a careful and thorough consideration of the US vision to achieve peace and open channels of dialogue, under US auspices,” the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, after Palestinian leaders furiously rejected the Trump peace plan presented on Tuesday. The Saudi Foreign Ministry tweeted that the kingdom “encourages the start of direct peace negotiation between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, under the auspices of the United States…” Jordan, however, warned against “unilateral Israeli measures such as the annexation of Palestinian lands.”

None of the three Arab nations sent their ambassadors to the formal presentation ceremony at the White House. The envoys of the UAE, Oman and Bahrain did attend.
