Egyptian court orders new trial for Hosni Mubarak
The court Sunday accepted the former Egyptian ruler’s appeal against his life sentence for failing to stop the killing of protesters during the 2011 uprising that overthrew him and ordered a new trial. Mubarak was moved to a Cairo military hospital last month. The prosecution was unable to convict him or his family on corruption charges, but Saturday he and his family were confronted with fresh charges of accepting gifts worth some $1 million from the Al Ahram newspaper.
