Egyptian generals appointed as 19 provisional governors
The military regime appointed 19 generals as provisional governors effectively introducing military rule of Egypt at the end of a day of deadly clashes over the removal of two pro-Morsi protest camps in Cairo. Interim Deputy president Mohamed ElBaradei resigned.
President Adly Mansour announced a one-month state of emergency across the country Wednesday amid spreading violence. He ordered the armed forces to help the Interior Ministry enforce security.
