Egyptian intelligence chief postpones visits to Gaza and Ramallah
Gen. Kamal Abed, director of Egyptian intelligence canceled his scheduled visits to Ramallah and Gaza on Thursday after the Palestinian missile attacks on Wednesday. Gen. Abed has been working for months to broker a long-term Gaza truce between Hamas and Israel. He explained the postponement by having to join President Abdel-Fatteh El-Sisi on his visit to Moscow for talks with President Putin. DEBKAfile: Israel has therefore lost Cairo’s mediation effort as a reason to avoid effectively dealing with Hamas and its escalation to missile attacks after seven months of violent harassment.
