Egyptian lawmaker suspended for meeting with Israeli ambassador
A member of the Egyptian parliament, Tawfik Okasha, was suspended on Wednesday and barred from the parliament for five years for meeting with Haim Koren, Israel's ambassador to Cairo. Okasha, who invited Koren to dinner at his home, was attacked by other lawmakers and struck in the face at the parliament. Out of the total 490 members, 465 voted in favor of the punishment for Okasha, who owns an Egyptian TV station, and only a few abstained or voted against it.
