Egyptian navy receives amphibious helicopter carrier from France
A French Minstral-class amphibious helicopter carrier arrived at the Egyptian port of Alexandria on Thursday and was officially handed over to the Egyptian navy. The ship is part of an approximately 1-billion-euro deal that includes helicopters and another helicopter carrier scheduled to be delivered in September. Paris and Cairo also signed two other giant defense contracts, a 2-billion-euro deal for the supply of a French communications satellite to the Egyptian military and a 5.2-billion-euro deal for 24 Rafale fighters and a destroyer.
