Egyptian PM Hesham Kandil arrives in Gaza

Israel agreed to suspend its counter-missile operation in the Gaza Strip during Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Kandil's two-hour visit Friday – provided the Palestinians also stopped shooting rockets. The Jihad Islami refused to hold its fire.
Kandil will try his hand at halting the violence. His party will include the Egyptian health minister to survey humanitarian deeds.
Before 0800 Friday, the first 14 missiles from Gaza were fired into southern Israel locations, Beersheba, Ashdod, Hof Ashkelon, Ashkelon, Shear Hanegev, Ofakim and Sderot. The barrage continues. Schools remained closed Friday. There were direct hits to buildings, but no casualties.
Thursday night, 3-4 missiles landed in the Greater Tel Aviv region to the north, including Bat Yam, as well as two which exploded between Rishon Lezion and Palmachim. Three Israeli civilians were killed in Kiryat Malachi.
