The Egyptian president pledges “brute force” against terrorists

In a live broadcast to the nation, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi Friday pledged “brute force against that small band of extremist terrorists” after Egypt’s worse ever terrorist attack. A bomb and gun attack on a mosque in the Northern Sinai region left 305 worshipers dead and 128 injured.  “The Armed Forces and the police will avenge our martyrs and restore security and stability in full force in the next period,” el-Sisi  vowed, declaring three days of national mourning for the victims.

Israeli prime minister, condemning the “painful terror attack” in Egypt, said: “Terror will be beaten more quickly if all countries work against it together.”

The terror that Sisi is referring to is ISLAMIC terror. Any idea what might be the underlying driver of ISLAMic terrorism?
