Egyptian soccer protesters try to disrupt Suez shipping

They tried unsuccessfully to disrupt international shipping on the Suez Canal and torched buildings in Cairo. The fans in Port Said were protesting death sentences imposed on 21 local soccer fans over a riot last year in which 70 people died. In Cairo, rival fans were angered by the acquittal of another 28 defendants by the same court. These disturbances are unrelated to the state of emergency in Sinai.
