Egypt’s top leaders at funeral of general shot in Kerdasah operation

Egypt's defense chief Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Prime Minister Hazem El-Beblawi attended the state funeral held Friday in Cairo for Gen. Nabil Farraq, who was shot dead during an operation against the Islamist stronghold of Kerdasah outside the capital. In August, Islamists attacked a police station in the town and killed 11 policemen. After storming Kerdasah Thursday, security forces arrested 81 wanted men and seized quantities of arms. Police are still combing the area door-to-door in search of dozens more suspects.
