Eighth Hamas cross-border tunnel exposed, deactivated

The longest and deepest Hamas terror tunnel, discovered some months ago, has been deactivated in time to avert its use as a conduit for a mass surge of Palestinian “demonstrators” into Israel, the IDF reported Sunday. The tunnel crossed from the Gaza Strip under the border and was dug 20 meters into Israel under the Shaar Hanegev region. It was linked to a large underground network built by Hamas inside the enclave. Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman commented that the discovery of the eighth terror tunnel was an impressive IDF intelligence and technological feat. Addressing the Gaza population, he noted that Hamas was burning millions of dollars on tunnels going nowhere rather than on providing them with decent living standards.
