Eilat is first Israeli city to declare itself under lockdown

Eilat’s city authorities decided on Thursday to bar entry to all non-residents, in order to curb the spread of coronavirus, without waiting for a government-imposed lockdown. Police blocks are posted on Rtes 12 and 90 to enforce the decision.  Israel’s southernmost town is the first to initiate its own measure for self-protection since the outbreak of covid-19.
