Eilat shuts down in protest against closure of key airport

The Sdeh Dov airport in Tel Aviv is our lifeline, say residents of Eilat, who Tuesday shut down roads and businesses in Israel’s southernmost town of nearly 50,000. They are protesting against the official decision to close the airport, which has served Eilat as its only link to the rest of the country since its inception as a tiny foothold on the Red Sea in the early fifties. Today, Eilat is today a thriving resort town and port.
