Emir of Qatar ends brief visit to Gaza

The first Arab ruler to visit the Gaza Strip, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, arrived in the Gaza Strip Tuesday with a large entourage. He also brought a $245 million check for development work on roads, a hospital and a new town and,  DEBKAfile reports, with big regional plans for the Islamist rulers of Gaza, Hamas. He departed after nightfall.
