Emirates, Air Arabia and flydubai reroute flights to avoid Sinai

The three Gulf airlines, Emirates, Air Arabia and flydubai rerouted their flights in the wake of Lufthansa and Air France-KLM as a “security precaution” to avoid flying over Sinai, following the Russian airliner’s deadly crash Saturday in which 224 people lost their lives. Egypt’s top prosecutor Nabil Ahmed Sadek declared the crash site 70 km south of El Arish off-limits as the investigation continues into the disaster. Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov and Russian Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov arrived in Cairo late Saturday along with a team of experts to assist in the investigation by Egyptian authorities.
