Emmanuel Macron sworn in as French president
Emmanuel Macron was sworn in Sunday – at 39 the youngest French president since Napoleon, after a landslide victory against far-right Marine Le Pen in the runoff election. His wife Brigitte Trogneux arrived at the Elysee palace for the ceremon. His Republicque En Marche! Party, founded just a year ago for the election, is scrambling for its first seats in the June 11 and June 18 legislative elections for all 577 deputies. He has promised to form a full cabinet and name a prime minister by Wednesday. Monday, he travels to Berlin to meet Chancellor Angela Merkel.
