Ethics committee: Knesset members allowed not to condemn attacks

Yitzhak Vaknin, chairman of the Israeli parliament's ethics committee, said Thursday that the recent decision by Arab Knesset member Basel Gattas not to condemn a terrorist attack did not constitute a violation of the Knesset's ethics code. It was based on a December 1 ruling by the committee stating that refusal of a request to condemn violent incidents that the Knesset member did not initiate, or participate in, cannot be considered as an ethics violation.
