Ethiopian community protest police shooting in country-wide riots
Members of the Ethiopian Jewish community, up in arms after Solomon Tekah, 19, was shot dead by a police officer, staged riots up and down the country through Monday night to protest police violence. Police intervened with tear gas when the highways around Haifa were blocked for several hours. The protesters claim the policeman who stepped in to separate a group of brawling teens had no cause to fatally shoot Tekah. He has been suspended pending an investigation.
