EU: Johnson’s Brexit plan “is better than expected”
UK PM Boris Johnson has prepared new proposals for a Brexit deal with the European Union to present to parliament on Thursday, after EU leaders welcomed advances, but said more work is needed. The plan includes a proposal to keep Northern Ireland in the European single market for goods but leave the customs union, as a solution to the big backdrop obstacle to a deal. EU officials said they will study the Johnson proposals in further detail. He now seeks approval from parliament which was withheld from the deal negotiated by his predecessor Theresa May. He is committed to leaving the EU on Oct. 31 with or without a deal.
As Europe and the rest of the world except the US go into a recession and Turkey is sending another wave of ‘refugees’ to Europe, the EU is now keen to quickly get rid of the UK to get the Brexit subject off the headlines so that other nations like Italy do not make good on their threats to leave.
