Ex-FM Lieberman: Next government’s guidelines will embody two-state solution
The prime minister’s Bar-Ilan speech providing a two-state solution for the Israel-Palestinian problem will be incorporated in the next government’s guidelines after the Jan. 22 elections, said Avigdor Lieberman co-leader of the Likud-Israel Beitenu alliance Sunday. He denied reports that the two parties would go their separate ways after the election. DEBKAfile: This was the first time, the Israeli Beitenu leader had subscribed to the Bar-Ilan formula, which essentially rules out the nationalist religious Bayit Yehudi’s demand that Israel annex Areas C of the West Bank. The alliance though losing ground still tops all opinion polls.
