Exactly 47 years ago, the IAF crushed the Arab fleets

In three hours of crushing air strikes, Israeli air crews preemptively gave the Jewish state its first advantage in the 1967 war launched by Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon, which ended in a lightning Israeli victory six days later. Those historic air strikes which crushed the Egyptian and Syrian air fleets took place exactly 47 years ago.
Sadly, while 18 world leaders attended ceremonies in Normandy Friday, to mark the 70th anniversary of the allied D-Day landings, Israel appeared to have forgotten the anniversary of its own remarkable victory and the courage of the men who won the 1967 war against huge odds.
The Israeli army in five days captured the Sinai Peninsula (restored to Egypt under the 1979 peace accord), liberated from Jordanian occupation East Jerusalem and its shrines (gaining access for the first time to the Western Wall) as well as the West Bank, and captured the Golan from Syria. The price Israel paid for its victory war was 780 dead in battle, 2,590 injured and 15 men taken prisoner.
